世行警告:金融危机将影响非洲艾滋病防治事业

    新华网内罗毕12月5日电(记者王淡宜)据肯尼亚《商业日报》5日报道,世界银行近日警告说,受全球金融危机影响,援助国和机构将会削减对非洲各国艾滋病项目的援助资金,这会导致更多人死于艾滋病,同时非洲的经济也将受到冲击。

    世界银行负责非洲艾滋病项目的官员伊丽莎白·卢莱说,非洲国家自身缺乏足够的资金开展艾滋病防治工作,如果援助资金减少,艾滋病事业将会面临很大困难。

    卢莱说,艾滋病是目前非洲年轻人死亡的最主要杀手之一。由此导致的技术工人和劳动力减少带来的损失在短期内无法恢复,这将直接影响非洲经济的发展。

    在非洲南部的一些国家,一些公司不得不在每个岗位雇佣2名工人,以防止他们其中一个由于艾滋病去世。

    由于缺乏资金,非洲国家目前艾滋病工作的重点是防控艾滋病向新的人群感染,而不是对感染者提供药物治疗。

    卢莱建议,国际援助机构和非洲各国政府应开展更为紧密的合作,同时各国必须确保援助资金得到合理利用。

    全世界共有3300万艾滋病病毒感染者和病人,其中75%生活在撒哈拉以南非洲地区。世界银行一份报告中称,自2000年至今世行已经筹集了16亿美元,专门用于帮助撒哈拉以南非洲地区30个国家防治艾滋病。
