Two Verses without Theme

The bright moon shines aimlessly.

The wind blows hard in the nether world.

Flowers are scattered everywhere.

All are mirrored in the meditation room

Famous mountains abound with monasteries for monks.

Plenty of facilities are available in good waterways.

Ancient virtue sees a melancholy secular world.

The times witness many pious Buddhist followers.

Fairies reside high up in the skies.

Zen sect of Buddhism in China yields lilies in the water.

The Buddha dwells not in the supernatural world.

One often composes poems in a dream under sunrays or in moonlight

The Vulture Peak stands upright in the evening glow.

For myriads of years the Buddha is covered with flowers.

An abode is reminiscent of warm mulberry leaves.

The Buddhist bowl for alms tells how vital a timely rain is.

We seldom see a papal bearing fruit.

Mirrors are extant to see face-powder gone.

My secular heart is bored in the silt.

A stone’s throw means to me a great distance.

Notes:

1.   Located outside the resident city in an ancient Indian state, the Vulture Peak is said to the place where Sakyamuni was preaching. Legends had I that when the Buddha touched flowers, the leaves smiled and thus yielded the Zen sect of Buddhism.

2.    A cottage with mulberry wood as the door, it implies a hut of the poor here.

Destiny Predestined

Worldly affairs depend much on destiny.

But it may portend happiness in one’s life.

In night dew the flowers bud forth

The isles see love ducks in sweet dreams.

As we meet and see off on horseback,

We pledge smilingly to meet somewhere in the world.

Whether the lines in the palm are protruding or hidden,

How can they judge it is natural or supernatural?
