旅行必备药箱
期盼已久的国庆长假已经到来，不少人计划着出外旅游，趁着这七天大假，尽享平日里没空细啖的美食，畅游总在电视里才见到的大好自然风光。不过，在人们整装待发之前，不少健康专家跳出来，疾声呼吁：“节日小心饮食，出外注重健康，别因一顿畅玩换来一身病痛，乐极生悲！”
确实，在这不愁吃喝的年代，令人们绞尽脑汁的休闲话题早已变成“如何吃出花样，玩出感觉”。当然，这花样和感觉出来了，代价也随之而来。你是不是也有这样的体会：休假之后比上班还累；吃遍了美食却整垮了肠胃；玩得尽兴却全身酸痛……
人体在体力消耗、饮食不规律的时候最容易受到病毒的侵袭，现代人出行背包里总会塞上一个药盒，分格放齐各种类的必备成药，以备不时之需。然而，如果这个世界上真有一种“万能药”出现，那可真是省事不少。目前美国的研究人员就发现了一种有潜力治愈一切病毒的“万能药”，其意义类似于青霉素被发现的意义，也许，人类和病毒的战争从此可以画上一个完美的句号。
小到感冒，大到艾滋病、天花，以及近年来被人们所熟知的禽流感，猪流感，都是由病毒感染引起的。与细菌不同的是，到目前为止，病毒感染引起的疾病仍没有特别有效的治疗手段。前不久，美国麻省理工学院林肯实验室的托德·莱德博士及其同事开发了一种所谓万能抗病毒药“DRACO”。
对所有病毒有效
研究人员在发表于最新一期《科学公共图书馆综合卷》上的报告中写道，他们测试15种病毒，发现DRACO对它们全部有效。这15种病毒包括造成普通感冒的鼻病毒、H1N1流感病毒、登革热以及其他几种出血热病毒。
“理论上，它（DRACO）对所有病毒有效，”麻省理工学院官方网站10日引述研究负责人、学院林肯实验室资深研究员迈克·赖德的话报道。
研究人员说，DRACO还可能治愈麻疹、唇疱疹、狂犬病甚至杀死艾滋病病毒。
让细胞主动凋亡
赖德从细胞自身防御系统获得灵感，研制出DRACO。
他解释说，当病毒感染一个细胞时，它会“劫持”这个细胞为己所用，复制出大量病毒，同时产生双链核糖核酸。此时，人体自身免疫系统为“反击”，会产生出一种蛋白质“抓住”双链核糖核酸，让病毒停止复制。但不少病毒可以“骗过”这一防御系统。
因此，赖德利用另一个自然过程：细胞凋亡。细胞凋亡指的是为维持内环境稳定，由基因控制的细胞主动、有序地死亡。DRACO可以据此杀死有害细胞，治愈感染，而对健康细胞不会造成损害。
不易产生抗药性
当前抗病毒药物种类少，一种药通常只针对某一种或几种病毒，且容易让病毒产生抗药性。美国斯坦福大学微生物学教授柯克加德认为，麻省理工学院的这一研究成果将有助于克服“抗药性”。
英国专家说，DRACO起效方式特别，因此还需要几年实验才能确定是否能应用于人体，投放市场至少还需10年时间。

Ryder from the cell's own defense system inspired, developed DRACO.
