经费短缺使东非地区艾滋病防控形势日趋严峻

新华网内罗毕８月２日电（记者廉海东）据肯尼亚《东非人报》２日报道，由于资金不足，东非地区艾滋病防控形势日趋严峻。

报道说，最近一段时间，东非地区很多艾滋病治疗机构由于经费不足已经停止接收新的患者。目前治疗艾滋病药物价格昂贵，现在很多东非国家的医疗机构经费不足，只能酌情给最严重的病人使用药物疗法。

最近，乌干达和肯尼亚等东非国家已经至少有１７名艾滋病病毒携带者因为没有得到及时治疗而死亡。由于治疗经费不足，乌干达的艾滋病病毒感染率从２００１年的约５％已经上升到了今年的６．４％。此外，肯尼亚的艾滋病防控形势也日趋严峻。

报道呼吁发达国家和国际组织加强对东非国家艾滋病防控事业的援助，让非洲艾滋病患者得到有效救治。

     Recently, Uganda and Kenya, East African countries have at least 17 people living with HIV because of the absence of timely medical treatment. As a result of the treatment of insufficient funds, Uganda's HIV infection rate from 2001 to about 5% has risen to 6.4 percent this year. In addition, AIDS prevention and control of the situation in Kenya are becoming increasingly severe.

     Report called on developed countries and international organizations on the East African countries to strengthen the cause of AIDS prevention and control assistance to enable Africa to effectively treat patients with AIDS.
