  治疗癌症和艾滋病的新药、能替代汽油的生物燃料、优质高产的转基因农作物……如今,生物技术与百姓生活的关系愈发密切。记者从市政府新闻办获悉,我国生物经济领域最具权威、最高规格、最大规模的专业盛会——"2009国际生物经济大会"筹备工作现已基本就绪,将于6月26日至28日在津召开。届时,全球生物技术、生物医药领域的近千项最新成果会悉数亮相,集中展示生物科技将如何更好地服务于民。
据介绍,生物产业已成为继信息产业之后当今世界发展势头最为强劲的新兴主导产业,该产业全球销售额几乎每5年翻一番,增长速度是世界经济平均增长率的近10倍。即便在世界金融危机下,增长态势依然不减。
生物医药产业作为本市经济发展的支柱产业之一,也是近年来发展最快的高新技术产业之一。目前,全市从事生物医药研发生产的企业超过500家,拥有制药企业157家,总产值突破200亿元。加快生物技术创新,发展生物经济,已成为提升本市产业层次的重要手段和有效途径,也是滨海新区建设高水平的现代制造业和研发转化基地的重要内容。
而随着持续加大生物技术研发投入和高素质人才的聚集,世界上首个干细胞药物"间充质干细胞注射液"、全球首次发现的人血液血管细胞生成素(HAPO)、世界第二例体细胞克隆波尔山羊等一批高新成果,相继在本市诞生,在推动经济发展和服务群众生活等方面均产生了积极作用。
