The top five most horrible diseases: cholera, influenza A H1N1 influenza远甚于HIV

China Network May 7 hearing, according to the U.S. "Foreign Policy" magazine website recently reported that more than 1,500 people around the world have been infected with the H1N1 Type A influenza virus, dozens of people were killed and almost all of the dead Mexicans. However, H1N1 Type A influenza virus is not far from the most serious threat to the world the prevalence of disease, "the foreign policy of" five more inventory threatening diseases:

1. Cholera

Cholera is an acute infectious diarrhea may be due to severe dehydration or kidney failure caused the death. Different with other dysentery, cholera in children and adults are fatal. Since 1961, cholera has spread to five continents in more than 100 countries and regions, and each year dozens of countries or regions and more than ten million or even tens of thousands of people morbidity. In those densely populated areas, but the lack of health care facilities in the region, cholera has become a threat to people's lives, one of the most dangerous killer.

The World Health Organization has said Zimbabwe in August 2008 outbreak of cholera as a "worst case", when 96,000 people were infected, more than 4200 deaths. Because of a lack of drinking water and sewage treatment facilities, exacerbated the outbreak of cholera. In recent months, the number of new infections has declined, but the World Health Organization warned that the time in August, the disease may break out again.

2. Spinal meningitis

Spinal meningitis is an infection of spinal cord and brain disease, severe bacterial meningitis can lead to brain damage or even death. Recurrent meningitis in West Africa, the outbreak of desert areas of the mainland, where researchers have been known as the "meningitis belt."

The latest outbreak in Nigeria, Niger and Chad. Since early 2009, outbreaks of meningitis have been killed in the three countries more than in 1900, only 1,500 people have died in Nigeria. Since 1996, more than 56,000 have been infected with meningitis, which killed more than 25,000 cases. In Chad, it is difficult to find the drug treatment of meningitis, the disease of people, one tenth of the people had to face death.

This year than in previous years due to colder temperatures may lead to more serious outbreak of meningitis. To this end, the African-governmental organizations has launched an unprecedented scale vaccination campaign, they have 540 million people were vaccinated, is planning for another 1.7 million people vaccinated.

3. AIDS

This disease affect human immune system, people are more vulnerable to HIV infection. AIDS originated in Africa, after the immigrants into the United States. Soon after, quickly spread to all continents. AIDS poses a serious threat to the survival of mankind, has caused the World Health Organization and the Government attaches great importance to all countries. AIDS spread in the world growing by leaps and bounds, a serious threat to the health of human and social development, has become a threat to people's health and the fourth largest killer.

Since 1981, AIDS has killed 25 million people around the world. At present, 33 million people worldwide living with HIV, of which 22 million patients living in the northern part of the African continent. Despite the new drugs can greatly extend the life of AIDS patients, but in developing countries, less than one-third of the people to receive drug treatment. AIDS was known as "the history of the plague after the century."

4. Ebola virus

This is a primate found in human and animal viruses, can cause fever, muscle pain, diarrhea, vomiting, or symptoms such as bleeding or skin rash. Ebola virus infection in the mortality rate of up to 90%, it can be infected with the medical staff or family members. So far, the most deadly Ebola virus first broke out in Zaire, where a very low standard of health care. In addition, the Congo, Uganda, Sudan, have been the outbreak of the Ebola virus. Non-lethal Ebola virus has also spread to the United States, Italy and the Philippines.

In 2007, the Congo has been the outbreak of the Ebola virus once, resulting in 187 deaths, accounting for 71% of all infections. In the past 10 years, Uganda, Sudan, Gabon also had outbreaks of the virus. The good news is that the global epidemic of Ebola virus is impossible, because their mode of transmission is very strict. However, its high mortality rates often force countries to close the border to prevent rumors.

5. Dengue fever

This is a through the mosquito-borne diseases, can cause muscle and joint pain. Although usually not life-threatening infection, but usually lead to high fever. The outbreak of dengue fever in tropical areas often until 1970, about 9 countries found. However, in recent years, dengue fever spread to dozens of countries are now an estimated 500 million people were infected, two-fifths of the population in the world under the threat of dengue fever. Latin America are particularly vulnerable to attack, unlike other mosquito-borne disease, dengue fever on the impact of urban and rural areas almost.

When the world's attention has focused on Mexico, when the influenza virus type H1N1, Bolivia and Argentina has a large-scale outbreak of dengue fever, now has more than 70,000 were infected. A variety of reasons, the exact number is difficult to obtain, but the number of deaths of at least hundreds of people. Australia is also an outbreak of dengue fever, infection近千人. (With text)
