Happiness

 

爸爸妈妈给你起小名“乐乐”，是希望你幸福快乐。

In giving you Happy Lele as your pet name, your dad and mom wish you happiness.

 

什么是幸福？

But what is happiness?

 

当你试图采摘绿地里的野花，却无意间误打误撞闯进一森林牛粪和盛开花朵的混合气息中，在流云和飞瀑间徜徉，在清风和明月中陶醉；这一刻，你不经意的收获是幸福。

You are happy without realizing it the very moment you get intoxicated when try to pluck wild flowers in the green but mistake into a forest of flowers blossoming in cow dung sending forth a mixture of natural atmosphere, or else caressed by refreshing winds under moonlight when strolling between fleeting clouds and mighty waterfalls.    

 

当你迈开自己的步伐，睁开自己的眼睛，眺望远山的青黛，拨动绿水的浮影；当你游曳在江南杏花春雨，草绿栏红间，或是置身于塞北大漠孤烟，长河落日下，被大自然的或雄奇或清新的景貌所感动，这一刻，你与天地交融的通感是幸福。

You are happy the very moment you get submerged with heaven and earth and get integrated with them！ That is:

The moment you have taken your footsteps, opened your own eyes, and enjoyed a panorama of green spots in remote mountains while stirring their floating shadows;

The moment you travel in spring rain south of the Yangtse River where the grass is green and the balustrades are red; or

The moment you are moved by great Nature when you find yourself in northern China desert in the setting sun with lonely kitchen chimney puffing out smoke!

 

 

幸福像绽开的花朵，像湖面的涟漪，是从舒展的内心层层叠叠扩散出去的。

Happiness resembles blooming flowers and ripples appearing on the lake surface; it expands from the innermost of your heart layer by layer.  

 

你会感受到幸福，是因为你会拥有开放敏巧的内心、矫健的身体，和感受它的能力。

You can perceive happiness because you possess an open and acute heart, a healthy physical buildup, and the faculties of realizing it. 

 

你的四处摇晃的小脑袋还在探究渐渐显示在面前的新世界，你的张开时间越来越久的眼睛还在巡视面前一个个从模糊到清晰，从陌生到熟悉的人们。

Your little head is moving about to figure out the strange new world. The longer you have opened your eyes, the clearer you will find all the strangers in front of you.

 

你的嘴巴虽然还只能发出依依呀呀的奶声童语，但一定想在问：幸福到底是什么啊。眼前的这个家伙，怎么只会给我卖关子。

You can now just utter infantile sounds when drinking milk, but you must be keen on what happiness is.

 

Hi, why the guy in front of my eyes keeps me guessing?

 

对了，你的好奇就是幸福的一部分，因为你好奇，你会被引去想象的国度；因为你的想象，会幻化为梦想的翅膀；因为你有梦想和憧憬，你会引领它们实现，用你的敏巧、聪慧；在好奇、梦想和实现的系列事件中，你会体味幸福像花开花落一样的过程。

Oh yeah, your curiosity is part of your happiness. Your curiosity will lead to your imagination, to dreams, to aspiration, and to realizing it with your acumen and intelligence just like watching the course of flowers blossoming to withering.

 

在我给你写下这段文字的时候，你的董江波叔叔从远方悉尼打来电话，他在给你的日记里读到了自己的幸福，这被叫做“分享”。

While I write this passage, your uncle John Dong called from Sydney. He “shared” your happiness from diaries for you.

 

你种下一颗小小的幸福的种子，让这颗种子发出嫩芽，嫩芽随着春风成长，在雨泽和阳光中从树苗长成参天大树，茂密的树冠引来啾啾鸣叫的小鸟儿，小鸟儿们衔着你幸福的种子四处奔波、播撒，在起伏的土壤和地平线的尽头圈下一片片幸福的领地。

You have sown a seed of happiness that will sprout, bud forth in the verdant breeze and grow into a tall tree from a sapling in rains and sunshine. The profuse tree crown will attract singing birds that will keep themselves busy spreading your seed everywhere, and bringing about a land of happiness in the soil rising and falling and even beyond the horizon.  

 

在你给予别人微笑时，你被回赠微笑；当你给予别人友爱，你被回赠友爱；当你种下快乐的种子，你的喜悦会蔓延到在你目力、心力范围内你所爱和爱你的人们。

When you beam and smile, you will be repaid. When you are friendly to others, you will also be repaid. When you sow a seed of happiness, your joy will spread from those you love and those who love you within your eyesight or within your mental and physical efforts. 

 

而对我来说，能和你母亲一起，每天看到你就是最大的幸福。

But for me, your dad, it is great happiness to look at you together with your mom every day.
