ITU-T Sg16开始做网真的标准，但这与传统的视频会议，究竟有多少区别呢？因为目前的标准视频会议系统，可以通过控制关键的环境因素和使用高品质的AV编码，也可以提供点到点的沉侵式的会议，因此本质上是体验不同。

但还是有明显区别的：

·         Current standards applied by a reasonable expert will allow creation of large, single screen “telepresence” systems.  This practice would include non-standard adaptations to the environment to improve immersiveness.

·         Current standards to not give enough guidance for experts to create immersive video conferencing experiences using endpoints with multiple displays and cameras.

·         Current standards do not support interoperable connection to multicamera / multistreaming end points.  Nonstandard methods exist in common practice.

·         Current standards do not provide a consistent way to create an immersive multipoint meeting on single or multiple screen systems.
