他是一名普通的公共卫生医师，他更是艾滋病人的朋友。11月1日，省疾病预防控制中心副主任胡晓云走完他短暂而又忙碌的42年人生。昨晚，大冶市艾滋病人吴电宝在电话里哽咽地告诉记者，肝癌夺去了胡晓云医生的生命，令他十分难过，很遗憾没有送最后一程，“他是个好人，我一定要到他的坟前去看他。”
今年36岁的吴电宝是大冶金牛镇农民，上世纪九十年代到外省卖血感染艾滋病。2003年，他发病后濒临死亡，幸亏省市疾控部门及时医疗救助才转危为安。2004年至2007年，胡晓云在担任全球基金艾滋病防治项目官员的那段日子，经常到艾滋病人较集中的农村去开展工作和慰问，其中两次到吴电宝的家中捐钱捐物。
湖北省全球基金艾滋病防治项目资助了第一笔启动资金，胡晓云上门鼓励他生产自救。吴电宝在自家荒芜的田地上种起了西瓜。后来，他又养了30头猪，生活有了很大的改善，更重要的是他重新找回了自信，找回了做儿子、做丈夫、做父亲的感觉。
2008年7月，吴电宝种的上万斤西瓜丰收了却在当地卖不出去，他决定把瓜拖到武汉来卖，找过三四家水果批发商，他们一听说是大冶金牛镇艾滋病患者种的瓜，纷纷拒绝。哪怕价格低到两三毛，他们也不愿意收。
无奈之下，他只好找到熟识的胡晓云。胡晓云二话没说，赶紧去找工会主席和艾滋病防治中心的几个热心人。先是联系武汉的超市出售，但联系未果。最后还是发动单位职工献出爱心，买下了这一万多斤西瓜。
为把吴电宝的西瓜卖出去，胡晓云还专门写文章介绍西瓜感染艾滋病病毒的说法很荒谬：艾滋病的传播途径只有3种，根本不可能通过呼吸道、消化道传染，艾滋病病人种的瓜、养的鱼、猪、种的菜更不可能感染。

当胡晓云患上肝癌晚期的消息传到疾控中心，同事们都惊呆了，他们无法想象刚满42岁的他怎么会被死神缠上？很多人都心生疑问，为什么在体检发现他可能患有肝癌需要复查的时候，他是那样的淡定。而在发病后面对无法忍受的疼痛和折磨时，他又是那样的不爱惜自己的身体，继续坚持出差在外的工作，直到国庆假期中实在无法忍受才到医院接受检查和治疗。可是一切来得那么匆匆，来不及寻找答案。
生前两个月，胡晓云一直在外面出差，四处奔波，症状越来越明显。在给妻子的短信中记载了他的病情。拉肚子“拉得厉害，难受极了。马上去机场。”“中午只吃了碗白饭……到达机场了，吃了药，实在撑不住。”“登机了。刚又去拉了，今天已经拉8次了。”，从来不晕车的他“刚晕车，吐了。”
胡晓云一心扑在工作上，和家人在一起的时间是越来越少，这也是他心里永远的痛。近几年，他喜欢在微博上记录自己的生活状态。
