Some of the data by comparison with previous years can be found, the spread of the AIDS epidemic has not yet been reversed, but some people saw the data or the progress of the global fight against AIDS. First, the global treatment of HIV infection up to 5.2 million, more than 1.2 million in 2008, this figure is 11 times the 2005 figure; Second, the global AIDS deaths of 200 million, flat in 2007 compared to 2001 reduction of 20 million; the third, in 2008 the global number of people newly infected with HIV 270 million, also unchanged from 2007, 300,000 fewer than in 2001.

But the situation was not so optimistic, there are three main reasons: Yi Shi tight control of funds, the financial crisis has led many countries to cut all spending to fight AIDS worldwide last year's funding gap to reach 7.7 billion U.S. dollars, while some U.S. agencies have estimated that The shortfall would be 11.3 billion U.S. dollars; 2 is the world's absolute number of HIV infections has not declined, the inverse of the more than 33.2 million by 2007 is 20 million; 3 is the world's nearly half of new HIV infections less than 25 years of age, in which young infected with HIV and then AIDS is most acute.
