国际艾滋病烛光日公益活动呼吁社会关爱

国际在线消息（记者 张一夫）：16日晚，由中华红十字基金主办的国际艾滋病烛光日主题公益活动在北京举行。人们点亮手中的红烛形ＬＥＤ灯，以纪念因艾滋病而丧生的人们，同时表达对受艾滋病影响家庭的关爱。
中华红十字基金执行理事长许荣茂表示，正常交往是不会感染艾滋病的，对艾滋病的误解、恐惧以期歧视只会给艾滋病感染者和受艾滋病影响的家庭造成更大的压力和痛苦，全社会应该共同携手为他们创造一个良好的、和谐的社会氛围。
记者了解到，借由这一活动，中华红十字基金今年的系列活动也正式开始。中华红十字基金将在四川省凉山开展对受艾滋病影响的儿童进行学习生活资助，支持村级卫生室建设等多项活动。
5月16日是第二十七个国际艾滋病烛光纪念日，自1983年起，每年五月的第三个星期天被定为国际艾滋病烛光纪念日。

May 16 is the 20th International AIDS Candlelight Day seven, since 1983, the third Sunday in May each year was designated as the International AIDS Candlelight Day.
