王宝强之前曾与导演顾长卫合作拍摄“老乡帮老乡”公益短片，宣传预防艾滋病知识。并在各公共场所广泛播出，效果显著。导演顾长卫对于王宝强出演宣传短片也非常欣赏，表示王宝强是和大家生活在同一阶层，有很多奋斗经历的演员，这样的演员会更加贴心。
