“艾滋病病毒”叫法欠妥
“艾滋病病毒”、“感染上艾滋病”、“艾滋病病人”或是“抗击艾滋病”……这些媒体上习惯使用的词，如今遭到联合国艾滋病规划署（UNAIDS）的否定。在前不久于墨西哥举行的艾滋病大会上，相关官员强烈建议，公众或媒体不应该再使用上述词汇。
根据联合国艾滋病规划署今年发布的相关文件指南，因为这些词汇缺乏科学性，或是意义不准确，或是带有歧视性等各种原因，这些术语已在联合国艾滋病规划署及与其有关的国际艾滋病防治组织中不再使用。
“艾滋病病毒”(AIDS virus)便是最典型的例子。“艾滋病”的英文为Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome，可以直译为“获得性免疫功能丧失综合征”，它本身不是病毒，是一种感染了“人体免疫性缺损病毒”（HIV，即Human Immune Deficiency Virus缩写）后、发展而来的一种免疫系统的病症。和艾滋病有关的病毒被称为“人体免疫性缺损病毒”（HIV），因此说“艾滋病病毒”并不准确。正确的表述应该是“人体免疫性缺损病毒”。
我国相关专家表示，因为公众对HIV这个英文缩写都已经很熟悉，用汉语表述这个意思时，可以直接讲：HIV。该机构也不赞成使用“HIV病毒”。因为HIV本身就是英文Human Immune Deficiency Virus（人体免疫性缺损病毒）的缩写，说“HIV病毒”，就好比是说“人体免疫性缺损病毒”。
说某人“感染上艾滋病”也不够准确，因为人会感染上“人体免疫性缺损病毒”（HIV），而不是感染上艾滋病。所以准确的说法是“感染了人体免疫性缺损病毒”（HIV），或者说“感染了HIV”。
同样如上述的道理，如果人们去做相关检查的时候，正确的表述应该是“HIV测试或HIV抗体测试”。 “检测艾滋病”（AIDS Test）的说法也是错误的。
“艾滋病受害者”（AIDS victim）和“艾滋病病人”(AIDS patient) 也不在该组织的推荐用词之列，前者有点将感染者视为弱者的意味，所以被视为不当；而后者“艾滋病病人”最好只是在医疗场所才使用。

China experts said, because the English public of HIV have been very familiar with the acronym, the meaning of expressions in Chinese, you can directly talk about: HIV. The agency also does not support the use of "HIV virus." That a person "infected with AIDS" are not accurate enough, because people will become infected with "human autoimmune HIV" (HIV), and not infected with HIV. So accurate is "infected with the human autoimmune HIV" (HIV), or "infected with HIV".
The same reasoning as above, to check if people do when relevant, the correct expression should be "HIV testing or HIV antibody testing." "Detection of AIDS" (AIDS Test) that is wrong.
"AIDS victims" (AIDS victim) and "AIDS patients" (AIDS patient) of the organization is not in the list of recommended terms, which infected persons will be regarded as a bit weak, this was regarded as improper; while the latter "AIDS patients "is the best place in the medical use.
