李砚宗（实名李学东），字曦东、号砚淙、别号泓法居士，1964年11月6日生于北京市丰台区，祖籍河北省肃宁县（山东省邹平县），出身于书香门第，年轻时从事过美术编辑，摄影记者，中央国家机关书画协会会员，较有实力的书画爱好者。自幼受祖父李石泉熏陶酷爱中国传统山水绘画。1984年，在北京市公安局十二处师从著名篆刻大师李燕生专研金石篆刻。2012年，在最高人民法院报社师从著名传统山水大师傅廷煦专研中国传统山水绘画。2015年，北京市总工会主办的《劳动午报•职工书画》对李砚宗书画进行了整版报道。
Styling himself as Xidong and otherwise known as Yancong or Hongfa lay Buddhist, Li Yanzong (real name Li Xuedong) was born into a family of literati on November 6, 1964 in Fengtai District, Beijing, with his family roots in Suning County, Hebei Province. Having worked as art editor and photo journalist in his early years, he is a member of Central Government Calligraphers and Painters Association and an enthusiast of calligraphy and painting. Influenced by his grandfather, Li Shiquan, he fell in love with traditional Chinese landscape paintings since his childhood, and became a disciple of the renowned seal cutting master, Li Yansheng in 1984 while holding his position in Division 12, Beijing Public Security Bureau, focusing on seal cutting with metal and stone. In 2012, during his work in Supreme People’s Court Daily, he studied traditional Chinese landscape painting under Fu Tingxu, prominent master in this field. In 2015, Li Yanzong’s calligraphy and paintings were covered in a full-page report by Labor Newspaper: Worker’s Calligraphy and Paintings published by Beijing Municipal Federation of Trade Unions.
