SINGAPORE, Nov. 8 (Reporter Chen Jipeng) Singapore researchers said Wednesday that they had found a new HIV variants. It is common by the two local original strain of the virus to generate recombinant way to combine its dangers than the general strain of the existing strong.
Singapore's Tan Tock Seng Hospital researchers said their February 2008 to August 2009 extract of the 109 HIV-infected blood samples were analyzed, 15 were found infected with this new type of AIDS virus. Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Singapore is the only AIDS patients admitted to public hospitals.
The researchers said that Singapore had the most common strains of HIV, there are two, one was subtype B, the other is from the subtype A and subtype E reorganization from the CRF01-AE type. It is both the recurrence of the original recombinant strain, found that the formation of a new strain, it was named CRF51-01B type.
It is reported that recombinant HIV-way through the synthesis of new strains, after the world has found 50 different subtypes of strains, Singapore, found 51 species.
Preliminary studies have shown that this new strain may be more harmful, but the researchers say their existing therapy is still effective. However, the real concern is the reorganization of HIV, which means that the initial virus has infected two different subtypes of HIV, the most common means of transmission is sexual contact.
According to the Singapore Ministry of Health data released in September this year, with a total population of 500 million people in Singapore are currently 4845 people diagnosed with HIV infection, including sexual contact is the main mode of transmission.
