台湾卫生单位表示，这名男子自称从大学时代开始，就喜欢上网找一夜情，每个月性对象超过10人，最高纪录曾在1个月内，与19名不同女子发生性关系，近十年来，就这么维持泛滥的性关系，人数多到他也无法确认。
卫生单位表示，这名男子今年3月出车祸造成头部外伤，7月下旬突出现下肢无力跌倒，左前臂骨折，查不出病因，本月中转诊台中荣总医院。院方指男子车祸前就有疲倦、四肢无力等艾滋病征，却自认是工作太劳累;之后讲话文不对题、记忆力减退，被怀疑是脑部气质性病变，但都未找出病因。再加上每次就医都有妈妈作陪，因此男子不敢详述性史。直到院方发现男子肛门溃烂且有皮疹，进一步检验后，才发现男子艾滋和梅毒都呈阳性反应
该男子供称，根本无法回忆到底曾与多少人有过性行为或可能在哪染上艾滋病，许多人也只是网友，根本不知道对方的真实身份，只说自己性伴侣“人数很多”。据男子自称每月有10名以上性伴侣，且历时近10年计算，其一夜情对象至少数百人。
该男子目前隔离治疗中，但因他持续有频繁的性行为，到底有多少人与他性交、被感染很难查清。卫生单位对此相当紧张，担心这些大玩一夜情的女子，已经“中镖”。连曾经医治男子的医护人员也非常担心，赶紧通报疾管局，务必要好好查个清楚。
