Business community on August 24 The U.S. and overseas researchers have used human vaginal plate to develop an active, topical microbicides, can induce HIV-1 (AIDS virus) protein inhibitors of the generation and ultimately to prevent the spread of the virus. Details of the study published in July 2010 of "anti-bacterial agents and chemotherapy," magazines.
In the past 30 years, HIV-1 virus resulted in 2,500 people dead, the world is now infected with HIV-1 virus, as many as 33 million. Although health officials are making every effort to develop an effective vaccine, but topical microbicides against HIV-1 is expected to reduce transmission as a selective strategy. As the activity of fungicides used in the human body plate against HIV-1 induced by naturally occurring substances, in particular concern.
As the lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus spp) is the dominant species of female vagina, into the development of active fungicide ideal candidate bacteria. In this study, the researchers used isolated from human vaginal Lactobacillus Jane (Lactobacillus jensenii), modified by engineering so that it can produce against the HIV-1 receptor protein in the anti-HIV-1 proteins RANTES and CIC5 RANTES . Two kinds of RANTES protein variants can inhibit HIV-1 infection, and a variety of HIV-1 genetic subtypes were significantly inhibited.
"This research project of the vaginal secretion of symbiotic bacteria and effective against HIV-1 activity of CCR5 antagonists provides system verification, which is towards the practical, safe, low-cost sexually transmitted HIV-1 prevention of significant progress." Researchers say . (YAO Li-xin)
