黄连、金银花、甘草、当归这些常见的中药，也许对艾滋病病毒有抵抗作用。现在，全球艾滋病病毒研究者都将目光转向了中国传统医药。
日前，中国国家艾滋病专家委员会专家、中国中医科学院教授吴伯平告诉记者，他通过10多年在非洲、欧洲、美洲几十个国家和地区对千余例艾滋病病人和病毒携带者的临床治疗发现，包括针灸在内的中医药治疗，可以抑制病毒的复制、提高人体免疫力、减轻化学药物毒副作用并治疗机会性感染。
吴伯平在杭州市第六人民医院进行的这个艾滋病中西医结合诊治新进展会上说，他接触的艾滋病毒感染者中，有在中医辅助治疗下10年甚至20年都未发病的；美国康奈尔大学还从中国收集了600多种中药，并确认其中的31种具有一定的抗艾滋病毒作用。
杭州市第六人民医院副院长梁伟峰也告诉记者，国际最新趋势是，一旦确诊感染艾滋病毒，有条件就要提前介入治疗，而在这个过程中，中医药大有可为。
