首位黑人总统贝拉克·奥巴马在总统就职典礼上读第一句誓词并没有出错，事实上，有的媒体报道有失偏颇，是没有弄清楚具体情况。

　　美国总统就职的宣誓词是写在美国宪法之中，奥巴马在就职之前已经把宣誓词背得滚瓜烂熟，宣誓时出现错误是领读誓词的首席法官罗伯特读错了，奥巴马听出来就停了下来，首席法官罗伯特重新读出正确的誓词后，奥巴马才接着宣誓。

　　查阅美国宪法第二章就对美国总统宣誓词做了如下的规定： "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

　　然而首席法官罗伯特读成了“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will execute the Office of President of the United States faithfully”，应该是：“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States,”

　　罗伯特把faithfully放在句末，奥巴马知道这个词非常重要，所以奥巴马就停住等罗伯特重新读了正确的，奥巴马才接着宣誓的。
