新华网马那瓜１月２０日电（记者刘璇 许雷）摘得２００８年环球小姐桂冠的２２岁的委内瑞拉小姐达亚娜·门多萨２０日抵达尼加拉瓜，开始了为期４天的防治艾滋病知识宣传活动。
活动主办方负责人波维说，门多萨将向尼加拉瓜的年轻人宣传防控艾滋病的重要性，并将参加艾滋病病毒（ＨＩＶ）检测，以自身的行动证明及时进行ＨＩＶ检测是对他人和社会负责任的表现。此外，门多萨还将前往医院慰问艾滋病患者。
门多萨在接受媒体采访时表示，希望通过这次宣传活动，向拉丁美洲所有的年轻人传递抗击艾滋病的责任感和自信心，她相信“对家人的爱才是抵抗艾滋病魔的最强大武器”。
门多萨去年７月在越南举行的２００８年环球小姐总决赛中夺魁，她认为“健康和坚强是一个人最宝贵的财富”。
