Ozcan甚至制造了一个搭载了LUCAS(无透镜超广角单元监视阵列)无透镜平台的手机原型。

Recently, the U.S. electronic engineer and Egypt Gan Road - Ao Zikan (Aydogan Ozcan) led by the laboratory to create a special functional prototype phone: can be used to monitor AIDS, malaria patient's physical condition can also be used to detect due to Developed or the water quality in the affected areas. In this mobile phones, the researchers introduced an innovative imaging technology, and the invention of this technology is currently serves on the University of California at Berkeley Professor of Aozi Kan.
Monitoring AIDS can also call a new phone

Aozi Kan, a professor of technical invention "based on the silhouette image of the lens with wide field of vision monitoring unit array" ((Lensless Ultra-wide-field Cell monitoring Array platform based on Shadow imaging, referred to as LUCAS), has been successfully applied to Network cameras and cell phones above their heads. Be it cell phone or camera, in fact, have used the same image: the use of short-wavelength blue light exposure to blood, saliva or other fluid samples, and then through a sensor array, to capture samples of Particle image.
As the liquid samples in the different particles have different diffraction patterns (diffraction pattern), therefore, the adoption of the decision-making algorithm (custom-developed), Treasury mapping and particles has been compared, LUCAS will be able to quickly identify the type of particles in the sample. Then, people will be able to use cell phones, LUCAS will be collected data sent to hospital for further analysis and diagnosis, or use USB interface to transfer data to the computer, and then sent to medical institutions.
However, LUCAS phone microscope is not a substitute for, but a supplementary tool. LUCAS and have a granular and pixel of the image, the image under the microscope even more delicate. LUCAS, but also to its own advantages: In many cases, people can not carry a microscope at any time, and in a timely manner LUCAS phone can identify liquid particles in the sample type, and completion of the count. In addition, due to the need LUCAS imaging lens, so there is only one factor to limit the size of the mobile phone LUCAS: to build chips LUCAS size.
Professor Aozi Kan said: "LUCAS technology can be used not only in the field of health care in the field of cell biology has become a good prospect. Typically, researchers Statistics blood cells, are using flow cytometry ( flow-cytometer), a record of only one cell, and LUCAS imaging can be recorded at the same time thousands of cells, the accuracy is not worse than the flow cytometer. "
December 5, 2008, Aozi Kan, a professor at the "lab chip" magazine (Lab on a Chip) published an article saying that after a series of improvements, he created a second-generation system LUCAS - holographic LUCAS (holographic LUCAS ). The improved, LUCAS hologram can be identified more tiny particles, such as E. coli, which is the first generation LUCAS can not do. By changing the spatial location of the light source, holographic LUCAS captured images of two-dimensional particles than the classic image particles containing more information.
Aozi Kan, a professor in the next few years the plan is that the system really LUCAS into handheld devices such as mobile phones. With such equipment, even people in remote areas, and in a timely manner to monitor the prevalence of the disease so that medical institutions can focus on the key areas
Do a good job in prevention and treatment. In addition, LUCAS system can also be used to monitor water quality, such as the detection of harmful particles in drinking water. LUCAS display system in Japan, Kyushu University and the University of Tokyo scientists had contact with the Aozi Kan, a professor in the hope of the system for earthquake relief. A few days ago, according to latest research shows that American scientists, we have day-to-day use of mobile phones in addition to phone calls and send text messages and Internet access, the addition of a new purpose: Health Monitor.
AydoganOzcan is a professor at the University of California.
It said that the current mobile phone lenses without the use of imaging technology, some of the least developed countries can be used as HIV, malaria or water testing equipment. Ozcan and even created a board of the LUCAS (non-ultra-wide-angle lens surveillance unit arrays) without lens prototype mobile phone platform. The principles and techniques similar to the camera, just use a shorter wavelength blue light to illuminate the blood, saliva or other fluid samples. After the shooting data can be transferred to the hospital for analysis.
This camera stuff can really get your cell?
Ozcan said in a statement, "This technology will not only medical and health undertakings have a major impact, and can reduce some of the blood cell test costs.'s Conventional flow cytometry in a row only to identify a single cell, but it can LUCAS At the same time, thousands of cells to identify and to the same accuracy. "
It is reported that, Aydogan Ozcan of this discovery has been published in the "lab on a chip" (Lab on a Chip) on. (Editor: Luo Park)
