The World Health Organization (WHO) scientists made a 25 to prevent the spread of AIDS, a new program under which, if the life of AIDS in the hardest hit of all regular check-ups and treatment, in theory, HIV can be eliminated within 10 years .
10-year reduction of 95%
WHO scientists of the research results of this 26 well-known in the medical journal "The Lancet"
Published. Under the new plan, as envisaged in sub-Saharan Africa hardest hit of all AIDS each year for voluntary AIDS test if found to be infected with HIV, drug treatment immediately. Plan, which will significantly reduce new HIV infections are the number of AIDS drugs because it can reduce the body's HIV levels of activity, so that the AIDS infection rate much lower.
It is estimated that the implementation of the plan within the next 10 years, AIDS will be reduced by 95%; 2008 to 2050, the number of people died of AIDS around the world will be reduced by half, from about 8,700,000 is expected to be reduced to 3,900,000 people.
Dim prospects for vaccine research
The World Health Organization anti-retroviral AIDS treatment and Grenier said the group of experts to examine the treatment immediately and can greatly accelerate the transmission of AIDS from stage to stage the eradication of AIDS changes.
At present, the AIDS vaccine in the event of failure of a series of rather bleak prospects; fungicides did not produce the desired results.
However, the most recent of this program is only a research model, with practical problems.
The first is the high cost. Scientists believe that the cost of the project would take about a year when the highest 3,400,000,000 U.S. dollars.
In addition, experts have questioned the plan violated the HIV-infected people. Because, according to the plan, once they are detected carrying the AIDS virus, even without the disease, have to accept medical treatment immediately. In the present, the AIDS-infected people, only when in need of treatment for drug treatment, as anti-AIDS drugs and toxic side effects, patients would lead to vomiting, liver failure and may even trigger a heart attack.
AIDS Situation
According to statistics, a total of 33,200,000 of the world infected with HIV, of which 22,500,000 infected people in sub-Saharan African countries; Asia have infected nearly 5,000,000.
Last year, new HIV infections and the number of deaths declined. 2007 new HIV-infected people at 250 million, down from 1998's 3,200,000 people; in 2007 about 200 million people died of AIDS than in 2001, when reduced by 20 million people.
