UC Extension arranged us to visit Mission Bay to day. It is not far away from where I live but not too near either. We need to take bus 41 to UTC and then transit to bus 30, and then take about 10 minutes walk to get there.
The opposite side of Mission Bay is the famous Pacific Ocean, even the weather is colder in resent days, and there are still a lot of people enjoying the sunshine on the beach and surfing in the sea. Wet suits stores could be seen here and there.
The arranged time is from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. so we had enough time to do some window shopping with the colleagues met on the road, four of us walked along the road in order to find something cheaper.
Because it is time to become colder, T- Shirts becomes much cheaper than usual; after all it is late autumn in China, though Americans in San Diego say the whole season here is like spring, we still can feel the coldness both in mornings and evenings, and the thicker clothes American people ware and the center heating system also could show the changing of the weather. The day before yesterday I bought a pair of swimming trunks, NIKE, the original price is $45, I got them only for $10. let’s go back to T-Shirts, many world famous brands, such as Livis and Gap are at a very low price of $5 each, even plus taxes—we need to pay taxes in every thing bought at 8% of the prices. One of my colleagues bought a backpack for $25, equals 175 RMB. I’m sure it is the cheapest.
At 3:00 sharp, we arrived at Mission Bay; we would have three events this afternoon---- Kayaking, sailing and beach volleyball playing, with barbeques from the beginning to the end.
Kayaking is new to most of us, so some of us dared not to get on the kayaks, especially ladies, but after all I have the experience of rowing boats in Daming Lake, so I soon got used to the skills of kayaking and became a skilled player, for sure my strength played a great role in the game, because I have been practicing body building for more than fifteen years. By the way, I won many little prizes in the Air Show last week by doing 60 push-ups without a break.
Then we got on a sailing boat, it is hard to maneuver by ourselves, a young guy got on the sailing boat and brought us to have a good sailing. I knew that the boat had no energy itself, it was completely depend on wind, so I asked him how can you come back if the wind were always blowing in the same direction, and if so will it be slower, the guy said we should go zigzag, and he droved us back as quickly as we went.
Beach volleyball playing is interesting but not for me, I never played that before.
Now let talk something about the BBQ, I ate two hamburgers and one hotdog, which made the cooker amazed, he asked me when I took the last burger with a piece of toasted beef in it, “how much can you eat?”
