南非墓地回收利用计划惹众怒

在人口拥挤的城市同他人合租一间公寓司空见惯,那么和别人分享一块墓地呢?

南非城市德班由于近年来死亡人数激增,墓地资源紧缺,政府不得不考虑开展“墓地回收利用”计划。

公墓紧缺

德班位于南非夸祖鲁—纳塔尔省,这里是南非艾滋病病毒携带者比例最高的省份,近520万人患艾滋病。近年来,德班的死亡人数猛增,造成公墓资源紧缺。

按照一年死亡人数大约2万计算,德班市政府不得不新建数座公墓,每一座造价2000万兰特(约合290万美元)。法新社10日援引墓地管理官员佩·达斯的话报道,政府没有能力负担这笔钱。

现年63岁的寡妇坦迪·伍德去墓地悼念亡夫。提及回收利用墓地的做法,她说这个主意“非常糟糕”。

“如果他们想回收我丈夫的墓地,我会制止他们。没门!”她说。

德班大学祖鲁文化教授萨伍·恩古巴内说:“人们与祖先的亡灵交流。他们不希望任何事物干扰自己和祖先的联系。”
