去年底，越南搞了个艾滋病病毒协带者的美女评选，挺热闹。据说，这和美国的一项《艾滋病预防、照顾和治疗计划》有关。从2004年至今，美国已向越南艾滋病感染者提供3.2亿美元资金的赞助。
据官方数字，越南共计有13.2万名艾滋病患者，其中4万人以上死亡。所以，目前政府的当务之急是防控艾滋病。通过评选“艾滋病美女”，越南官员重申，歧视艾滋病要不得。她们一样有被选美权。
早在2006年，为了帮助人们改变观念，一个由艾滋病毒感染者组成的越南艾滋病合唱队走村串乡，用歌曲形式请人们不要歧视艾滋病。
