外刊，这个词汇也许对于很多学生来说非常陌生，甚至许多考研的学生竟然也很陌生，因为很多人只知道考研英语就要做模拟阅读***篇，而不知道考研英语文章的题源全部来自于外刊，而且是英美主流的外刊，所以连续很多年考研英语阅读理解A部分的平均分都没有超过20分就不足为奇了。思路和理念非常重要，这决定了我们的行动的方向，一旦方向偏差，即使我们再努力，也未必能得到理想的结果，到达成功的彼岸。
在刚刚尘埃落定的2011年的考研英语中，再一次证明了点点团队强调的外刊超精读的理念之重要性：只有在平时夯实基础，在精读外刊的过程中全面提高在具体语境中识别单词意项的能力、长难句的理解与判断能力...只有这样，即使在平时的阅读过程中遇不到考试时的原文章，我们在考场上才能临危不乱，应对自如。
2012年需要考研的同学，技巧、“九阴真经”、“降龙十八掌”...神马都是浮云，唯有在超精读的过程中夯实基础才是真经！2012年考研的学子们，你们的考研之路已经启航，沿着点点英语外刊超精读这个正确的方向前进吧。
以下笔者选取了一篇较为简单的外刊文章进行了词汇、搭配、句型的分析、总结，并用文章中的一些用法造了一些句子，可以用在作文中，以体现点点一贯强调的“活学活用”的整体学习思路，考研英语阅读部分（宏观阅读概念）占70分，所以复习一定要以阅读为中心，逐步发散到其他题型，而且要善于挖掘阅读中的完形、词汇、新题型、翻译等其它题型的相关考点，达到举一反三，触类旁通的效果。希望同学们能够深刻地意识到外刊对各类英语考试备考的重要性。丁晓钟老师所著的《英美外刊超精解》一书精选题源外刊，进行了详细的分析、总结，解决了大家不知选择什么样的外刊文章和不知是否精确理解了原文的烦恼，能够给备考带来极大的帮助，大家可以选择使用。即使不选择本书，也希望大家能够按照点点精读外刊的思路来学习。
Bringing Electric Cars to the Mass Market: The Challenge and the Promise
将电动汽车投放大众市场：挑战与希望
【原文】For at least the last decade, electric vehicles have been a hot topic in industry and environmental circles, but have largely remained a pipe dream. Now that clean tech and renewable energy are making headlines everywhere from the investing world to the presidential race, the foundation for the long-promised fully-electric car revolution appears to be falling into place. But the challenge of converting electric cars from feel-good displays of environmental consciousness by the young and trendy to the everyman’s transportation vehicle will not be easy. Battery prices must be reduced dramatically to bring electric car costs in line with conventional vehicles. Ranges must be extended and charging stations set up to ensure make long-distance trips feasible. The billing system for residential electricity must be revolutionized while power plants must prepare to support millions of vehicles coming onto the grid. We have assembled this all-star panel of experts from across the electric car ecosystem to discuss these challenges as well as the promise that meeting them holds.

【造句】：For the bulk of Chinese people, protecting the environment has largely remained a slogan.（可以用在2011年考研英语（一）大作文中，根据话题修改后也可以用在其它作文中。）

【点评】now that, make headlines, investing world, long-promised是理解难点，可能翻译有误。
【翻译】因为从投资界到总统竞选，关于清洁技术和可再生能源的头条新闻无处不在，人们期待已久的全电动车革命的基础似乎正在逐渐落实。

everywhere 表示强调，from A to B 结构是举例说明，此处everywhere可以省略。
【外刊例句】：With Facebook making headlines everywhere from Time magazine to The Today Show, it is difficult to remember that online social networking is only ten years old.（随着从《时代》杂志到《今日秀》节目，关于Facebook的重要新闻无处不在，人们很难记得社交网站只不过诞生了十年。）
【造句】：With environmental protection hitting headlines everywhere from People’s Daily to Dragon TV, it is not difficult to grasp the meaning of this cartoon. （可以用在2011年考研英语（一）大作文中，根据话题修改后也可以用在其它作文中。）
